so much depends on the inner light

I feel here the sense of presence. Not aggressive, not defensive.. Not in your face, Not apologetic..Natural unadorrned authority.

sometimes it's all about shapes but somehow more comes through

an early use of palette knife together with briush

during lockdown worldwide we had to work on Zoom, at least I could imagine the pleasure of meeting

a pause brefore the start of the day

a figure study is one thing but create a conext and colour and spatal interest and hopefully it begins to make a painting

hopefully it's the face that catches your attention. She's not a blank, but an enigma, so much more than the body

with dignity expressing the character

I occasionally paint from photographs then what happens is the emphasis can evolve

Scenes

one of my favourite trees in Richmond park

a corner of the front garden away from the wind and in the sun, bliss

thsi was painted with abolute minimal use of brush

forest full of all good things, adventure with care

I learnt from sculpting that if something is noi right, change it immediately, and then when all the balances and shapes are in harmony, leave it alone

I enjoy taking a scene and playing with it, this is based on a path in Barnes.

the walled garden in Paradou and the orientation of the 16th century house keeps at least some of the wind out so the plants can survive

however hard the mistral blew, there was almost always a spot of stillness within
